Welcome to Wonderful Leh - second largest district of India and the main town of the Ladakh District.
We begin our city exploration of Leh with the beautiful Shey Palace - earlier used as a summer retreat by the kings of Ladakh, the Indus river, Hemis Gompa - believed to be the wealthiest and biggest monastery in Leh, Shanti Stupa - built to promote world peace and prosperity and to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism, Rancho School and the Hall of Fame War Museum. The evening is set for a wonderful folk dance by the local Ladakhis where we get to know more about the culture of Leh.
Let’s head to Nubra Valley today - where the Shyok River meets the Siachen River to form a large valley separating the Ladakh and Karakoram ranges. Enroute we travel through Khardung La (La means pass in Tibetan) - world’s highest motorable pass. We also visit the cold desert at Nubra Valley.
The day is all set for us to visit the impressive 106 feet tall statue of the Future Buddha at Diskit. The magnificent statue faces the Shyok River towards Pakistan and was built with the main purpose of protecting the Diskit village, preventing future wars with Pakistan and promoting world peace. We then proceed back to Leh.
We head towards Pangong Tso today - the star attraction of our tour, where we spend an entire day. The extraordinary lake stands out due to its most notable highlight - the ever changing, mesmerizing bluish hues and for the fact that it was featured in the famous bollywood movie, 3 Idiots. The lake acts as an important breeding ground for a large variety of migratory birds like Brahmani ducks, rare black necked cranes and seagulls. After an eventful day at the Pangong Tso, we head back towards Leh.
Today’s the day to visit Magnetic Hill - a gravity hill phenomenon located near Leh and Patthar Sahib Gurudwara - the gurudwara built to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev to the Ladakh region. We also observe the confluence of River Indus and River Zanskar from the Sangam Point.
Our tour concludes with mixed feelings! Happy to have made so many new friends, visited several amazing destinations but also sad that it means the end of such a wonderful trip. IFly tour guests will proceed towards Leh Airport as per group flight schedule for flight back to Mumbai. Tour concludes.
